Remote Slewin'...

Life @ Rebels Yard....

Ez Cru - First up - we know it's been way to long on here... apologies fi dat.
In January theBRSS cru all upped sticks from our last base, St. Annes,  in the sprawling urban metropolis which is Glastonbury town - and opted for a slice of 'the good life'.

Soundboy and all round General badman 'RUKKUS' is happily nesting in a converted Double Decker Bus..

Whilst 'DUB PIKEY' is in a converted vintage Bedford TK horsebox...
Don't panic however as they'll still be plenty of sounds coming from this near self-sufficient idyll, as we don't intend trading Dubplate for yoghurt weaving quite yet. We were lucky enuff to aquire the long term loan of an ex-librarybus/project vehicle - complete with parquet flooring, a fat bank of Forklift batteries and a pure sine inverter - that means bare tuneage and mixes can still come 'from our paws' (PJ & Duncan - '93)
Here she is...
To celebrate our re-kindelled ability to actually put stuff out - Dub Pikey and Rukkus (better known b2b as STUFF N TING) have put together a mixcloud account and will be loading it with fresh mash up bizness as standard

Heres a special to celebrate! - more of this can be found by clicking HERE

Comin' Soon will be a gig round up of 2011 thus far - as well as festival anouncements (a particularly fuckin BIG festival announcement in particular) upcomin bizness, and all the latest news, tunes, gossip and nipple slips from theBRSS family...

Little history lesson peeps - If ya dun know - mana they call the GENERAL LAW is THE original BRSS soundbwoy. Along with his father, the legendary MIGHTY MIGHTY J, the General sowed the seed of the BRSS in a dank as fuck working mans club in Bridgwater back in 2005. Second tuesday of every month saw General roll out the 'shit disco', (an ancient all in one soundsystem, predating the crossfader, with turntables covered in snooker table baize)-  a BBQ would be lit in the beer garden, and a selection of lovers, Chav DnB, and UKHH would run on the sound. The night was free and a dontation tin would be passed around for our awesome chosen charity, the white ribbon alliance for motherhood.

These our our humble roots - and we're proud of em.

General has since branched out and is now living in Brighton - still reppin for the BRSS family, and also a regular for ROOTS RENEGADE  soundsystem, and various UKHH events.

The General also went to Orissa in India to check out the work the White Ribbon were able to do with some of our donation money, and more recently - headed to Tanzania to rep for the WRA (white ribbon alliance) and also be the first BRSS selectah to session in Afrika - alsongide the MIGHTY J, and Tanzanias own DJ TERRY (

And... finally, the man with the world record for longest rewind in a live set (10 minutes!) has gone digital and slapped together a mini mix for our collective listening pleasures - so 'ere be- enjoi

Clunk Patty by General Law [The BRSS]

Monday before last - mana they call the MOLESKIN     skillfully navigated his chopper onto the BRSS helipad at St. Annes, and generously banged out a podcast for you listening pleasure... It's free to download and has got so many cool nu tunes I had to seek counselling to recover. Get involved

Big name actors from the 80's Hollywood action genre aren't generally synonymous with Dutty freak out pussy lovin dancehall but that could all be about to change....
Steven Seagalm star of such awesome fils as 'on deadly ground', has taken time out from his normal activities to collaborate with LADY SAW  on a killa new tune STRUT.

Yeah that's right BELIEVE! Expect to hear this soon on the BRSS. As well as this, Mr. Seagal (yea Mr. - respect!) is a celebrity figurehead for the radical US faction of 'LAWFUL REBELLION' , If you dun know bout this movement- you really should- it concerns each and everyone of us, and the pressure exerterted on us by babylon that makes everyday existence such a struggle. Click the link and liberate yourselves a bit. To accompany such radical reading, we recommend you press play on this:::::

Till next time - KEEP IT IRIE!!!

You can tell how good your podcast is by measuring how tidy your garage is...

...That's what the BRSS fam who attended this magic monday were to find out. Today, DUB PIKEY, RUKKAS and, the man who came all the way from Leeds for the occassion, tha MOLESKIN (aka Yusef Islam aka the artist formerly know as cat stevens, aka the foreskin) , banged on the coffee, rolled a millon Zena Badawis, and got MASH UP inna St. Annes yard - home of the BRSS...

3 Hours Later, we emerged with this....

HERE:HERE:HERE:HERE:HERE                                       ( not here)

-please hit us up with some feedback, we like to know what you think cos you're who we play this stuff for. We love seeing the dancefloor smiling back at us liking what we droppin' - also, we happy to give you tune ID for most of this mix - just tell us what point the tune you haffi know is and we'll sort you out-

We thought after this, as it was such a beautiful rare sunny october day, that we'd have a listen back to the 'cast in the garage whilst tidying up our cable boxes and dust off the sound.

We got so into it that 3 hours, and 15 bin bags of shit later, the garage is spruced to the max, top to the bottom, roof hovered, fuckin gleaming. It's a 2 thumbs up then on the podcast. hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.

Manna they call tha RUKKUS has been maneouvreing all over the shop of late, making bare linkage, and one of the hottest of these has been linking with the ridiculously lush crew down at WONK#AY  RECORDS in Brighton. A tight crew of insanely talented producers and Djs, rinsing all things bass, they were kind enough to invite us along to play at their FREE PARTY at our favourite Brighton bass station, THE VOLKS. (incidently, the volks is the only venue we've ever wheeled the rig into, where a concerned looking landlord walks over and asks, " guys, I don't wanna be a bother, and I know you wanna play on your sound but, um, I thought maybe if we linked up your rig with our rig, then that'll just be twice as fuckin loud wont it!")

Needless to say it was a banging night, PIKEY and TROUTMASTER 3000 had a Mash-up, and then Brighton was treated to a rare flat-out no bullshit dubstep set from the RUKKAS (keep your eyes peeled for a forthcoming release from RUKKAS with these guys.

Volks was one out, one in from 12 midnight, all the way till 4.30 in the morning ---R O A D B L O C K!!!!
Big ups to the girls who came for the drive and giggles, trouty for his marathon driving skills, and all the fam who linked up at the event - think the South west boys n girls dominated half the venue!

Heres a 'ikkle ting I came across couple days back - Some serious dutty action from Taranchyla on the Basik Instinct Riddim... in honour of the MIGHTY J steppin up at short notice at strictly come dubbing a couple weeks back - Link to facebook info for the next SCD here

Bless All

if you aint heard this yet you gotta listen one of the best tech house tunes ive ever heard the drop is unreal, Justin Martins been seriously smashing it up lately and with beats like this coming out i can see why - props from BRSS go out to dirtybird records (

Yesterday i noticed a neat lil moombahton ep up for free download from Heartbreak & Munchi really diggin the beatnuts-watch out now jam, be sure to check their page to pick up a copy theres also loadsa good links on there.

On a more electro house tip cant wait to get a copy of this killa rework of boogie nights from none other than the mighty Far Too Loud and Alex mind, need i say more..... gonna be massive

Far Too Loud & Alex Mind - Bring Back Boogie [preview clip] by Far Too Loud

Uppermost - you must have heard of this guy if your into electronic music, mans got serious talent which shows no matter what style he throws himself into and thats quite the achievment. Been a fair bit of activity on his soundcloud last couple of days and im really feeling this one, the groove and bass really give a tip top swagger to this beat

  Uppermost - MSOT by uppermost

And heres a track i just cant get enough of these last few months its huge,

Lastly can't believe i never heard of this guy before.... a fellow welshman going under the name Hostile who seems to have developed a style very appropriately named as grimehall (i was sold on the genre title....) which is a mashup of raggae/dancehall vocals with grimey/breaksy beats and dirty basslines - now thats dutty...
and to top it all hes only letting us all download it for free from his soundcloud..
heres a preview of whats to come from his next lot -  madman dubz volume 3

Limb By Limb *MADMAN DUBS Vol.3 COMING SOON!!* by hostile

Well guess all that needs to be said now is big ups to you all and keep your eyes open for more BRSS goodness in the future

Oh and make sure you check the post below because no jokes Rukkas only gone n done the illest carnivaltastic remix of  Redlight n ms Dynamite - 'what you talkin bout'

New Tings New People New Stuff - Habstrakt/Diesel/Rukkas - Wheelie Fresh!!!!

Yes yes!

Its been a while, many things have been goin on,many speakers been moved and many an ear drum rattlin', but whats really caused a stir in the BRSS yard today is our man HABSTRAKT.
After receiving some very positive comments on the RUKKAS soundcloud from the man himself we decided too check him out, needless too say we were blown away by his and the people he surrounds himself with's production skills.
I chatted too him for a while and he sent me across some tunes, needless too say we got a coffee and big spliff on the go immediately, sat around the table and had a bloody good listen and ive gotta say,we enjoyed every minute of it.
Our particular favourite on his page is the 'Silent Frequencies & Habstrakt - God Of Death'
The sounds, the layout and the progression of the tune is absolutely excellent,it does everything you want it too do in all the right places, but somehow without becoming tiresome and forced, which is one of the hardest things too do in dance music in my opinion.

I believe this guy and the people he is working with are going too do very well, the only trouble is he is situated in france, which isnt the best for a up-coming producer,so if you are reading this, check the rest of this guys tunes out and consider getting him over too your country too tear it up......

Now onto something a bit messier and harder too keep up with, ive found myself blurrey-eyed in the car at 8 in the morning frantically prodding at the ipod trying too get this song too play too wake me up and make sure i at least drive with my eyes open too work, this seems too do the trick at the moment, its the craziest thing ive heard in a while....out too Diesel on this >>> find more of his stuff here

Hopefully anyones that got this far on the blog understands just how big Redlight - What You Talkin About?! is.....
After downloading the acapella,RUKKAS decided he wanted a more, upbeat, carnival infused version,so he went ahead and made this....what a guy....

If you want a copy get in touch here.....

Well thats all from we (for 5 mins or so.....) big ups!

big things big things big things big things

Wha gwan BRSS followers
Loggin' on to tha internet today I was delighted to see a new release from one of my personal favourite rekkid companies: Well Rounded. Not only is it one of my favourite rekkid labels, but it's also a release by four dead talented producers that go by the name of C.R.S.T

They've just had a slew of releases out, the last being Baduka/Bump on Doc Daneeka's imprint Ten Thousand Yen which is fyahhhhh.

This one's for all the garage heads, cop a lil listen and if you're suitably impressed purchase that badbwoy here and keep your eyes peeled for the vinyl release.
Well Rounded (Revival EP) by C.R.S.T

Another tune set for release in the near future is from our boy Article. He's been quietly producing solid tunes for about a minute now. Check out this clip of Mustard tiger, co-produced by Klic and start piecing together some pennies for the release on Hit and Hope Records
Mustard Tiger - Article & Klic (clip) by Article.01

Last piece I'm excited about is the Kwaito House/Dubstep fusion created by LV and South African MC Okmalumkoolkat. This drops on the 11th of October on Kode9's legendary dubstep/Funky label Hyperdub. Check the video!

We've got the BRSS BBQ this saturday at the Riflemans in Glastonbury

All Aboard the ZION TRAIN!!! + Free Dub Mix Download...

TOOT TOOT!!! The undisputed originators of Dub-Dance music - Zion Train are rocking into the yard and we be honoured to be settin the pace n supporting them.

We sure you know, but for those who don't, Neil Perch n Crew re-energised dub music in the early nineties and crafted the original roots/steppers/techno crossover kings. Without this we'd probably not be doin what we're doing today, as we'd probably not have many of the styles we play today (dubstep/bouncehall/fidget/funky) SO RECOGNIZE! ...Not only that, but the Perch, Dubdadda n the fam have continued for over 15 years to keep pushing the envelope and evolving the sound - and not go all stadium cock-rock-star like shitty Dreadzone (sorry, but yeah, we got issues, they arrogant man)

Be sure to check out Zion Trains Label - UNIVERSAL EGG - HERE, for all the latest on Europes finest house of dub

They really are my personal favourite live act, with deep driving sub bass, the crispiest live horn section you will ever hear, and DUBDADDA, the best frontman on the circuit, hyping the crowd into a frenzy. To celebrate, DUB PIKEY got his fyah bun n got lockdown for a downloadable mix of deep sinister sufferers dubs - play or download below

Bring Tha Rukkas......

Thats right, its been a long time comin but the selecta/producer named 'Scoundrel' has made the change too 'Rukkas' after finding out there was another Scoundrel in this world....and what a lovely guy/great DJ he is....
After trying many names, freaking out too a certain extent and badgering his soundboys for help he decided too ask his mum..... 'what?' he said too his mother, 'what would you have called me instead of my real name now?'
"well,Rukkas son,obviously' She replied...
And so he was born and heres his latest tune entitled 'Mincer'

To go with this new name, new style and new look Rukkas has been kind enough too spend a while in tha studio craftin a new mix for you too download for you Iplods....

Still stickin too his trademark dubstep style, yet adding in a bit more of a tropical flavour this 14 min minimix has got everything you need, unless your after meledoic-cross-harmonising-folkstep
Let him know what you think here

BoooOoOoOOOOOooOOoOOooooom ting!!!!!!
